Abstract

Throughout history, theater has changed based on the precepts and customs of the time. However, according to the Institute of Applied Economic Research, 50% of the Brazilian population has never been to a theater performance. The high cost of building a traditional theater is one of the factors that makes investment by the public and private sectors unfeasible. As theater has featured in projects that create bonding space between performing artists and their audiences, theater architecture has become attractive for the development of innovative technologies. Regarding the city of Alfenas, the rates of the Tax on the Circulation of Goods and Services - program to encourage the preservation of the State's cultural heritage showed positive results with actions to preserve the city's heritage and culture, as disclosed by the State Institute of Heritage Historical and Artistic. Alfenas' last score in the collection of the Tax on Circulation of Goods and Cultural Services increased 81.89% in the last year. This will provide a significant increase in the value that will be passed on to the municipality for investment in cultural assets. The proposed work aims to graphically analyze similar spaces, as well as propose an architectural project of a democratic theatrical space. This democratization can be seen from the result of the graphic analysis that proposes a location with wide accessibility, and provides environmental comfort. Therefore, a theatrical space is created that meets the demands of the population, with the potential to generate greater attention to this culture.
