Abstract

Given the reflections of social exclusion, the absence of a fixed home and the precariousness related to social support are facilitators to create situations that lead individuals to reside on the streets. Thus, the architecture implemented in the shelter spaces can directly influence the emotional, social, physical, psychological factors and the perception of space used in the places, therefore, the buildings must convey to users the feeling of welcome and protection, being able to attract the homeless population. Moreover, this paper aimed to investigate the general issues surrounding the shelters for homeless people, proposing a review through the architectural design, suggesting a Shelter and Integration Center for these individuals in the city of Alfenas - MG. Therefore, it was developed a Graphical Analysis of The Bridge Homeless Assistance Center, Dallas, USA, in order to recognize the structure and its parts that meet the demands of a shelter center for homeless people. Aiming to collect data capable of contributing to the development of a sustainable building with a welcoming and educational character, able to resume social interaction, generate professional incentive, and rescue the human integrity of these individuals. Through the results of the Graphical Analysis and studies of the terrain and its surroundings, an architectural project was developed for a building with the purpose of providing shelter for homeless people, paying attention to Insolation; Accessibility; Energy Efficiency; Effluent Efficiency; Dominant Winds; Landscaping; Distribution of areas and environments; Sectoring and Flowchart.
