Abstract

This literature review article addresses the relevance and potential therapeutic interventions of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in the context of suicidal behavior. The complexity of suicide is emphasized, making psychotherapy, particularly CBT, a valuable tool in prevention and treatment. The importance of psychologists paying attention to warning signs, assessing risks, and understanding emotional difficulties, considering various aspects of the patient's life, is underscored. Multidisciplinary work is emphasized to promote effectiveness in mental health promotion. The results highlight that CBT, by addressing behavioral, emotional, and cognitive factors, is effective in reducing psychological distress and preventing relapses. The therapeutic alliance is vital to allow patients to express their vulnerabilities. However, the study acknowledges limitations, such as dependence on available sources, and emphasizes the need for integrative approaches for a comprehensive understanding of suicidal behavior.
