Abstract

Introduction: Cardiological assessment has evolved significantly with the integration of advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and wearable devices, which increase accuracy and agility in diagnoses. Cardiovascular workup, traditionally based on exams such as echocardiogram and electrocardiogram, now benefits from these innovations, providing a more in-depth and personalized assessment. Objectives: Analyze technological innovations in cardiological assessment and their integration into cardiovascular workup.Methodology: The literature search was conducted in the PubMed database, using descriptors such as “technology in cardiology”, “cardiovascular propaedeutics” and “artificial intelligence in cardiology”. Articles published between 2018 and 2023 were selected, including observational studies and clinical trials, excluding systematic literature reviews and case reports. Of the 50 articles analyzed, 30 that met the inclusion criteria were included. Discussion: Emerging technologies have revolutionized cardiovascular assessment. AI has demonstrated effectiveness in processing large amounts of data, identifying patterns in imaging and ECG exams, as well as helping to predict cardiac events. Wearable devices, such as smart watches and sensors, allow continuous monitoring of parameters such as heart rate and blood pressure, enabling early interventions. Despite advances, challenges include adequate training to use new tools, adapting clinical practices, and validating these methods to ensure safety and diagnostic accuracy. High initial costs and data privacy concerns are other barriers to overcome for the widespread adoption of these technologies in cardiology.Final Considerations: The integration of advanced technologies in cardiovascular workup represents a milestone in cardiology, with the potential to transform the diagnosis and treatment of heart diseases. AI and devices optimize assessment and enable more personalized and preventative interventions. However, widespread adoption of these innovations will depend on overcoming financial, regulatory and training challenges. Additional research is essential to consolidate the role of these technologies in cardiovascular medicine.
