Authors

Abstract

The work examines the exploitation of the image of children and adolescents in the media, focusing on its ethical, legal and social implications. With the constant presence of digital media, concerns about privacy and personality rights arise. This work's main objective is to study and analyze the extent of media exploitation in the use of images of children and adolescents, investigating the psychosocial, ethical and legal impacts of this practice. It also seeks to propose solutions and improvements in contemporary practices. This work's research methodology is an approach seeking to analyze quantitative and qualitative parameters, for a deeper and more accentuated understanding, as well as collecting data on relevant cases involving minors in aggravating situations that can be considered exploitation of the use of their image, across the most diverse media channels. It is extremely important that society, together with legislators and digital platforms, come together to guarantee a safe and honest environment, in which the rights of children and adolescents are prioritized, protecting them from the harmful consequences of media exposure. Based on this awareness, it is hoped that, in the future, debates and actions will contribute to establishing a balance between freedom of expression and the preservation of the rights and dignity of minors.
