Abstract

According to the World Health Organization, adolescence is a period of great physical and psychosocial transformations, due to the awakening of sexuality and symbolic separation from parents, influencing the particularities of life and personality in each individual, which implies the need for sexual education for warn teens about the risks they may encounter. Therefore, adolescents need specialized attention, as they still have little knowledge about STIs and ineffectively perceive the risk of contracting such infections and becoming pregnant early. The objective of this study will be to carry out a review of the literature on sexually transmitted infections, nurses' management of sexual education and prevention of teenage pregnancy. As this is not research or data from human beings, approval from the Ethics Committee is not necessary. This is a bibliographic review, consisting of the use of scientific articles. A literature review will be carried out on this topic through databases, such as SciELO, Brazilian Society of Pediatrics, WHO Guidelines, Ministry of Health, for subsequent comparison of the different information found in these databases, listing and addressing the main information about STIs, teenage pregnancy and nursing management in the face of this problem. Articles will be searched with the following descriptors: STI, assistance provided, pregnancy, adolescence, sexual education and nursing. The inclusion criteria will be: articles published between 2018 and 2023, original, in Portuguese, that comply with the key words described. This review is expected to identify the role of nurses in addressing STIs and pregnancy in the adolescent population, highlighting their role in sexual education, STI prevention, family planning, analyzing the counseling and guidance strategies offered by nurses to promote healthy sexual behaviors among adolescents and the spread of prevention knowledge. The aim of this research is to raise subsidies for the implementation of public policies involving adolescents in health care, thus promoting the reduction of STI and teenage pregnancy rates. It is concluded that teenage pregnancy presents major challenges for both young mothers and babies, leading to impacts on the physical and mental health of both. Nursing cannot only play an informative role, but also act as emotional support, contributing to the formation of adults who are responsible and aware of their sexual health. Statistics reveal that STIs and teenage pregnancy are beginning to be challenges in public health. Therefore, a multidisciplinary approach, involving health professionals, educators and parents, is essential to face this complex reality. Awareness, access to information and the promotion of safe sexual practices are fundamental to the health and well-being of adolescents. It will use the resources of the academics involved in the Project as a financial source.
