A LIGA ACADÊMICA DE ODONTOGERIATRIA NO SUL DE MINAS GERAIS PROPORCIONANDO UMA EXPERIÊNCIA PROFISSIONAL NA EXTENSÃO

Abstract

University extension is present in most of Brazilian universities, and can be presented in several formats, but all of them with the objective of enriching the student's education and the dissemination of knowledge outside the academic environment. Between all the forms of university extension, there are athletics associations, study centers and interest groups. In this context, the Geriatric Dentistry Interest Group was created and the main objective is to spread the knowledge about geriatric dentistry among dentistry students, since it is an area that receives little attention in most Brazilian universities. The interest group wants to arouse the interest in the area among academics about the importance of this specialty in dentistry. In addition, the group also wants to put the knowledge acquired by students into practice, taking it to the community. This dissemination of knowledge is made through projects and actions planned by the academics with the supervising teacher.
