HUMAN IDENTIFICATION OF BURN VICTIMS: THE IMPORTANCE AND ROLE OF FORECAST DENTISTRY

Abstract

This article reviews the current literature on the identification of burn victims, with a special focus on the relevance of Forensic Dentistry. Correct identification of burn victims is a challenge due to the damage caused to soft tissues and the loss of distinctive physical characteristics. Forensic Dentistry has emerged as an indispensable tool, using unique characteristics of teeth for identification, especially in situations where other forensic methods are restricted. The study highlights technical and methodological advances in the field of Forensic Dentistry, highlighting its effectiveness and importance in resolving identification cases in disaster and fire crime scenarios.
