Abstract

Introduction: Pancreatic cancer is often diagnosed in advanced stages when treatment is rarely possible. In view of this, artificial intelligence (AI) has been used to facilitate the diagnosis of the disease, since its algorithms are able to analyze large amounts of medical data and images in a short period of time. Objective: To analyze the current landscape of AI use in the screening and early detection of pancreatic cancer and to understand the main advances, challenges and gaps identified in the scientific literature. Materials and Methods: Integrative review, with search carried out in the PubMed database. The descriptors used were artificial intelligence, pancreatic cancer, early diagnosis, early detection, pancreas, cancer. Results: 169 texts were identified, of which 17 were included in the revision. Conclusion: After reading the studies, it was concluded that artificial intelligence has the potential to improve early detection of pancreatic cancer. However, significant improvements need to occur, especially related to ethics, before AI can support everyday activities in clinical practice.
